The economy of Delaware is rapidly growing, creating more and more truck driving jobs every single day. Those interested in obtaining a trucking job in the state can either become a company driver or an independent contractor. A company driver is employed by a company that provides trucking services, while an independent contractor typically leases or owns their own truck and contracts their driving services out to companies in need of trucking transportation.
In the state of Delaware truck driving training is not measured by hours or time, but rather your ability to pass both the written test and driving test portions of the Delaware CDL exam. However, the more training you have actually driving a commercial semi truck, the better.
This is in part why the state of Delaware has adopted a two part CDL licensing process. The first part consists of an eye exam, which you must pass with 20/40 vision in each eye, either with or without the use of corrective lenses and glasses. You will also be required to take the written knowledge test, which will assess your knowledge of state and federal trucking laws and safely operating a commercial truck.
